Motorists who regularly drive Ocean Parkway are being advised to take an alternate route Monday as police continue the search for evidence in the areas of Oak Beach and Gilgo Beach, Suffolk County police said Friday.
Suffolk County police will search the parkway from Captree Bridge to Tobay Beach from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., closing the westbound lanes, a traffic advisory said.
The search is related to the discovery of the remains of four women late last year and the skeletal remains of another person, who has not been identified, were found on Tuesday.
After Tuesday's discovery, Suffolk County Police Commissioner Richard Dormer pledged a new "full scale" search.
Motorists should make every effort to avoid this area, police said.
