The man appeared to be trying to cross North Ocean Avenue near the corner of Cedar Avenue around 3:40 p.m. when he was hit by a 2010 Hyundai Elantra, police said.
He suffered head injuries and was rushed by helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital. Holtsville Fire Department members treated him at the scene.
