Police seek man who tried to record woman in Huntington Station store dressing room
Suffolk police want the public's help in identifying a man who placed a cellphone under the door of a department store fitting room to record a woman while she was dressing.
The unlawful surveillance happened about 7:25 p.m. Thursday at the Nordstrom Rack at 350 Walt Whitman Rd. in Huntington Station, police said, and there was no dressing room attendant at the time.
The woman yelled at him after seeing the phone being pushed under the door, then followed the man through the store, police said.
As he walked quickly toward the exit, the woman shouted "Stop that man, he's recording me," said Det. Sgt. Steven Bluethgen of the Second Precinct.
After the initial uncertainly and surprise, some employees joined the woman in following the man through the store, but he quickly left and disappeared outside, Bluethgen said.
Police released store images of the man, who appeared to be in his 30s and is about 5 feet 4 inches tall.
