Police seek pair in thefts from Islandia sheds

Police are searching for two men who entered a backyard in Islandia earlier this month, stealing power tools from sheds worth more than $600.
The men were caught on surveillance video, and Suffolk County police are asking help in identifying the two -- and offering a reward of up to $5,000 for any information leading to an arrest in the case.
The thefts took place at a home on Sampson Avenue at 10:48 p.m. on June 11, police said. It was then police said the two men, one wearing a baseball cap and the other wearing a hooded coat, entered the fenced back yard of the home and removed a Stihl rototiller, a Black & Decker battery operated weed whacker and a car buffer from sheds there.
The items are valued at $619, police said.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the case to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
