Police seek woman in Shirley wallet theft

A surveillance video camera photographed a woman who stole another customer's wallet in December, Suffolk Police said Thursday.
The larceny took place Dec. 27 at a Dollar Tree store, at 800 Montauk Hwy., Shirley, police said.
Suffolk County police Seventh Squad detectives are investigating, and they ask the public's help identifying the woman in the photos.
On the day of the larceny "a woman purchased items at the Dollar Tree . . . and accidentally left her wallet at a checkout counter. The woman returned to the counter a short time later and discovered that her wallet, which contained cash and credit cards, was gone," the police said in a Thursday news release.
"Surveillance video revealed that a woman that was standing in line behind the victim took the wallet, put it in her pocketbook and left the store," the police said.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest, and the agency accepts confidential calls at 800-220-TIPS.
