Police: Six employees at Riverhead, Wading River businesses sold liquor to minors
Six employees at six different establishments in the Town of Riverhead have been arrested charged with selling alcohol to minors, police said Thursday.
Riverhead police made the arrests during Wednesday compliance checks. Those arrested were: Lynn Knopfke, 71, of Rocky Point; Michael Sheehan, 18, of Wading River; Brian Love, 30, of Port Jefferson Station; Shah Hasan, 42, of Middle Island; Anthony Maneri, 24, of East Moriches; and Orcun Unsal, 28, of Mattituck.
All were all charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child, a misdemeanor, police said.
Police said the businesses that employed the workers are: The Thirsty Cellar, 6324 Rte. 25A, Wading River; Village Beverage, 2051 North Country Rd., Wading River; Alpine Wine and Liquor, 6249 Rte. 25A, Wading River; Valero, 5904 Rte. 25A, Wading River; The Wine Depot, 1968 Old Country Rd., Riverhead; and 7-Eleven, 1733 Old Country Rd., Riverhead.
