Police: Southampton man charged with punching man
A Southampton man was arrested Thursday after police said they received a call reporting the man had punched another man in the head and threatened him with a knife in his home on Hampton Street.
Joe L. Coffey, 47, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and second-degree harassment, Southampton Town police said.
Coffey was scheduled to appear Friday in Southampton Town Justice Court.
Police said the 911 call was placed at about 7:35 p.m. Thursday and said the caller identified Coffey as the attacker.
It was not immediately clear how the two men knew each other.
