Police, SPCA investigating dead cats found in bag on Orient beach
Southold police and the Suffolk SPCA are investigating the death of seven cats that were found in a duffel bag Thursday night on the beach in Orient.
At about 9:40 p.m., officers responded to a report of a strong odor coming from a duffel bag on the beach in Orient, Southold Town police said in a news release.
Police said they found the seven cats inside the bag, and contacted the Suffolk County SPCA
Southold police and the SPCA are continuing the investigation, police said.
