Police: Suffolk cop injured in Mt. Sinai crash
A Suffolk County police officer was injured when a driver crashed into his patrol car in an early-morning accident Thursday in Mount Sinai, police said.
Police said the officer, whose identity has not been released, was not seriously injured.
His condition was unknown Thursday.
Police said an arrest is expected in the case. It was not immediately clear if that driver was injured.
The accident occurred on Route 25A near County Road 83, North Ocean Avenue, just before 2 a.m., police said. The circumstances of the crash were not immediately clear, but police said initial reports indicate the officer was working a DWI checkpoint when his vehicle was struck.
