Two lanes of the eastbound Southern State Parkway were closed at Exit 43, Islip Avenue-Route 111, in Islip for more than five hours Wednesday, after a truck struck an overpass and became wedged underneath.

State Police said the accident occurred at 5:40 a.m.

The New York State Department of Transportation reported the road was reopened at 10:54 a.m. Police said there were no reported injuries.

It was not immediately clear where the truck entered the parkway. It also was not clear if the bridge was damaged.

Trucks and other commercial vehicles are not allowed on parkways in New York State.
