Two men were hurt, one critically, after a car crash in Wantagh on Saturday afternoon, Nassau police said.

According to police, Brian Haab, 18, of Baldwin was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus west on Sunrise Highway at about 5:10 p.m. when his car suddenly swerved across the median into on-coming traffic.

His car was hit on the passenger side by a 2007 Dodge Suburban that was traveling east, police said.

Haab and the driver of the Suburban, Matthew Pephinski, 55, of Lindenhurst, were taken to Nassau University Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. Police said Haab was admitted in critical condition.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections, but police said there did not appear to be any criminality.
