Police: West Babylon teen seriously hurt in crash

A West Babylon teen was seriously injured in a late-night crash Sunday on Little East Neck Road in West Babylon, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Paul Baumann, Jr., 17, was driving an unregistered mini-motorcycle north on Little East Neck Road when he collided with a 2000 Nissan Xterra as it made a lefthand turn onto Roland Drive at about 11:50 p.m. The drive of the Nissan, Katherine Daly, 47, of Holbrook, was not injured - and also was not charged - police said.

Baumann was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in serious condition. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available on Monday.

Police said both vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing, police said.
