Police: Women stole $10,000 lottery ticket
Two women have been charged with stealing a lottery ticket worth $10,000 after the real winner left the ticket at a bar, State Police said.
Robert Collins, 57, of Ronkonkoma, left the ticket on the bar at Richie Bs in Holbrook, where it was taken by bartender Nichol Anderson, 33, of Holbrook, State Police said in a news release.
Anderson gave the ticket to Roseanne T. Alicea, 39, of Lake Grove, who took the ticket to the lottery office in Garden City, got a check and cashed it at a Key Bank branch, police said.
Collins told state lottery officials the ticket had been stolen, and those officials contacted State Police.
Police said the two women “conspired to cash it and share the proceeds.” Each is charged with third-degree grand larceny.
Both women are now facing arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip.
State Police did not say when the incident occurred or what kind of lottery ticket was involved in the theft.
