Two delays on the Long Island Rail Road Saturday temporarily halted the unofficial beginning of summer for some riders.
The 1:11 p.m. Greenport train due in Ronkonkoma at 2:35 p.m. was about 45 minutes late after being delayed in Greenport because of a police investigation.
"There was a car parked too close to the right-of-way," said LIRR spokesman Mike Lewi. "The owner arrived and moved the vehicle."
The 4:03 p.m. Huntington train due in Port Jefferson at 4:51 p.m. was 13 minutes because of a small brush fire east of Kings Park that flared up earlier, Lewi said. The eastbound train to Port Jefferson continued after firefighters extinguished the fire.
