Power was restored shortly before 11 p.m. to about 15,000 Long Island Power Authority customers in the Babylon area on Friday night, a LIPA spokesman said.
The homes and businesses affected were generally in the communities of Copiague, Lindenhurst, North Amityville, and North Lindenhurst, according to Scott Garver, the LIPA spokesman.
The power outage occurred after a supply line for a substation failed, he said.
The outage began at 9:15 p.m., Garver said.
LIPA's website indicates that the utility has about 82,000 customers in Babylon Town.
