Man, 83, killed in Coram crash, Suffolk police say

An 83-year-old man died in Coram Tuesday night when his car hit a tow truck that was parked in the road to clear an earlier crash, Suffolk police said.
Preston Pavlo of Mount Sinai was headed south on County Road 83, also known as Patchogue-Mount Sinai Road, around 7:30 p.m. when his 2020 Nissan Altima rear-ended an unoccupied tow truck that was parked in the left lane. The truck was just south of Mooney Pond Road, police said.
Pavlo was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. The tow truck was examined at the scene, police said.
