Tile company owner Frank Procida was formally sentenced Wednesday in Suffolk County Court to 30 days in jail for failing to pay more than $1 million in sales taxes.

Procida, 48, of Bay Shore, who heads the tile store chain that bears his name, already paid $1.6 million in restitution. Of that, $1.072 million was sales tax he had not paid the state, and the remainder was interest and penalties.

State Supreme Court Justice Robert W. Doyle also sentenced Procida to 5 years' probation.

He pleaded guilty last June to second-degree grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing. Prosecutors said he collected more than $1 million in sales taxes and kept it.
