Dates have been set for the next two workshops seeking public input in the process leading to the formation of an integrated land-use, circulation and infrastructure plan for the Melville Employment Center.

On Nov. 9, the topics will be circulation and transportation at the workshop scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. at the Melville Fire Department, 531 Sweet Hollow Rd. There will be a presentation followed by breakout tables for small discussion groups.

On Dec. 1, also from 7 to 9 p.m. at West Hollow Middle School, 250 Old East Neck Rd., the topic will be community design and aesthetics, and the format will be different: an "open house" style with large-scale visuals placed at different stations, followed by a discussion. This replaces the workshop originally scheduled for Nov. 17.

People wishing to attend are asked to register in advance by emailing melvilleplan@huntingtonny.gov, or by calling 631-351-3199.

The workshops will be conducted by the consultant team of BFJ Planning, Urbanomics and Parsons Brinckerhoff, which the town board hired this year.

Town officials said the broad mandate for the plan is to examine the many complex issues facing the Melville area and to define an action agenda for future development and redevelopment.
