More than 100 vehicles involved in an illegal race blocked the Long Island Expressway service road in Yaphank early Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.

Officers found the vehicles obstructing about a mile of Express Drive North, from just west of County Road 101 to Lincoln Road, after responding to a report of multiple cars racing westbound at Exit 66 around 1:30 a.m., according to police and a map.

Police issues 27 summonses for various violations.

Additional information was not available Sunday night, police said.
