Rainy, windy Wednesday expected
Expect a rainy, windy Wednesday on Long Island.
The rainfall will be heaviest midday Wednesday through the afternoon, with 20-mph winds gusting up to 40 mph at times, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Scalora.
A wind advisory also is in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. for central and eastern Long Island, the weather service said.
The day will be unseasonably warm, with highs reaching the low 60s, Scalora said.
Sunny conditions are expected Thursday, but temperatures will drop into the 40s.
