The body of a Central Islip man was discovered in his home by a relative Friday afternoon, police said.

The 39-year-old man was discovered in his bedroom at 4 Maple Wing Dr. about 2 p.m., Suffolk police said.

The victim's cousin had gone to the residence to check on his welfare, police said, and discovered the body and blood inside the front entrance.

Det. Lt. Gerard Pelkofsky, commanding officer of the homicide squad, said the man's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The victim was employed as a transporter/loader for a Brooklyn fish company, he said.

Pelkofsky said the dead man lived alone in the one bedroom rented apartment in the Park Row Condominium complex where the body was found. The cause of death is undetermined, he said, and would not be known until after an autopsy.
