Rep. Peter King: MS-13 hearing to be held in Central Islip
Rep. Peter King will hold a congressional hearing on the MS-13 gang on June 20 in Central Islip, the Long Island Republican said Thursday.
King (R-Seaford) told anxious Central Islip residents during an April 18 community meeting that he would hold a hearing on the gang Suffolk police say is the behind the brutal murders of four men whose bodies were found in a park last month.
“We need to get an idea of what the issues are on Long Island and how they can be addressed in Washington,” King said.
King, the chairman of a Homeland Security subcommittee, said he is working with the ranking Democrat, Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-Garden City) to draw up a witness list for the four-hour hearing.
King said the hearing will probably be held at the federal courthouse in Central Islip and the witness list will likely include federal and local law enforcement officials and relatives of MS-13 victims.
