Only one lane in each direction will be open on Horseblock Road bridge in Medford as crews make major structural repairs during the next three months, state transportation officials said.

The lane closures will be effective around the clock until the project's expected completion in July, according to an alert from the New York State Department of Transportation.

The Horseblock Road bridge is located over the Long Island Expressway. Crews will make steel and concrete repairs, including replacing the bridge deck and deck joints, state officials said.

Drivers should expect delays, especially during the morning and evening rush hours, the state alert said. Construction signs will alert motorists of the lane closures, but access to the LIE service roads won't be affected, the state said.

Transportation officials also remind drivers that fines are doubled for exceeding the posted speed limit in a work zone. Under the Work Zone Safety Act, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could lead to suspension of the driver's license.
