Rescuers resumed searching Mecox Bay early Monday for a missing jet skier, Southampton Town police said.
A police spokesman said the search for the jet skier, whom only has been identified as a 29-year-old man, resumed at about 6 a.m., after he and his passenger overturned the watercraft shortly before 6:45 p.m. on Sunday.
A passing boater was able to rescue the passenger, a woman, whom police also did not identify.
Suffolk County police's Aviation Unit, Southampton Bays constables and several fire departments and ambulance corps conducted an extensive search Sunday, police said.
But it was called off after a few hours because of an approaching storm and darkness, police said.
