Reward offered in fatal Sayville hit-run
Fifth Squad detectives are looking for the driver of a blue-green Toyota Camry that struck and killed a pedestrian in Sayville on Oct. 19, Suffolk County police said Wednesday.
Police said the driver of the Camry - a model from 1997 to 2000 - hit Daniel Fanuele, 42, of Sayville, as he was walking on Lakeland Avenue shortly before 9 p.m.
The car sped off in an unknown direction, police said, and Fanuele was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have released photographs of a car, similar in color and style to the one that hit Fanuele. Police said the car had front end damage, including a missing front-grill emblem.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers, 800-220-8477. Crime Stoppers offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. All callers will remain anonymous.
