Ridge residents hospitalized after carbon monoxide leak
Residents of a home in Ridge were hospitalized early Tuesday after they were exposed to carbon monoxide, officials said.
Responding to the call of a gas leak, medics from the Middle Island and Yaphank fire departments found the residents of a home on Cliffwood Lane suffering from carbon monoxide exposure, officials said.
An undisclosed number of residents in the home were transported to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson for treatment and observation, Suffolk County fire officials said. Officials said the move was precautionary and that no one was seriously injured.
The incident was reported at 12:48 a.m.
Officials said preliminary indications were that the carbon monoxide condition was caused by a malfunctioning oil burner.
