A Riverhead man faces felony drunken driving charges after being stopped Wednesday morning on suspicion of erratic driving in Riverhead, State Police said.

Troopers said a blue Dodge traveling west on Route 58 crossed hazard markings and moved from its lane unsafely at about 1:14 a.m., according to a news release.

When troopers stopped the driver, Jamil Houpe, 29, of 315 Doctors Path, they noticed "a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath," the release said.

Houpe failed sobriety tests and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.

He is charged with a felony DWI because of a previous drunken driving conviction in the last 10 years, police said.

Arraignment information was not immediately available.
