Riverhead man faces charges in 2nd shooting
An 18-year-old man arrested and charged with attempted murder following a shooting late Thursday night in Riverhead also was charged with assault in the shooting of a different man last week, Riverhead Town Police said.
Juan F. Soyos Pixtun of Riverhead was charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault, police said. Arraignment details were not immediately available.
Police said officers responding to a 911 call reporting a shooting found Edgar Bautista, 20, of Riverhead, on the ground with a gunshot wound in his upper leg near the intersection of Pulaski Street and Marcy Avenue. A witness identified Pixtun as the shooter, police said, and an investigation led to Pixtun being charged in the unrelated shooting of Oscar Alvarado, 36, of Riverhead, on West Main Street last Friday.
The attempted murder charge is for the shooting of Bautista, while the assault charge is for the shooting of Alvarado, police said.
