A Riverhead man was crushed to death on Saturday after his pickup truck rolled on top of him as he was working on it, Riverhead Town police said.

Police said Rony David Calderon Leon, 49, of Melene Avenue, was beneath his pickup truck doing work on the vehicle shortly before 4 p.m. when it rolled off its lift system and pinned him.

Rescuers freed him, but he was unresponsive, police said. Leon was transported by the Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

Police said an investigation concluded there was no foul play or suspicious activity, and the death was accidental.
