Man hit crossing Riverhead street, police say
A Riverhead man was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle while walking across County Road 58 in Riverhead Friday night, police said.
Marek Kolota, 48, was crossing the road just east of Northville Turnpike, when he was struck by a 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan driven by Juan Zambrano of Flanders, police said. Zambrano, 53, was driving in the eastbound lane.
Kolota suffered a head injury and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital. Police said his injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Zambrano remained at the scene and no charges have been filed, police said.
