Riverhead police are looking for a man suspected of robbing two banks in the last month.

Police said the Capital One Bank on Main Road in Jamesport was robbed by a man wearing a white hooded sweatshirt shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect handed the teller a note demanding cash and fled on foot with the money to a wooded area, police said.

A search of the area with a K9 unit came up empty, police said.

Police believe the robber may have also been involved in a Dec. 16 bank holdup in Riverhead -- at the Capital One branch on East Main Street.

Suffolk County police Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest.

Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS or the Riverhead Police Department at 631-727-4500.
