A Citgo gas station in Riverhead was robbed Wednesday evening by a man armed with a black handgun, who demanded and received an undetermined amount of cash from the clerk, the police said.

The suspect, who was in his early 20s, fled the store, located at 1050 Osborne Ave./Old Country Road, on foot, Riverhead police said Thursday.

His description resembles that of the suspect in two recent robberies of Mobil gas stations, in Centereach and in Holtsville, Riverhead police said.

Any witnesses or anyone with information about the suspect can call the Riverhead Police Detective Division at 631-727-4500, Ext. 332.
