Motorists who take Crooked Hill Road southbound at the Long Island Expressway Bridge are advised to make alternate travel plans starting Monday as a five-day closure begins.

The southbound lanes of Crooked Hill Road/County Road 13 at the bridge, in the Dix Hills-Commack area, will be closed to motorists round-the-clock from Monday at 8 a.m. until Friday about 6 p.m., state Department of Transportation officials said.

Northbound Crooked Hill lanes will be shifted away from the construction work and remain open. Southbound motorists will be detoured a quarter-mile west to Commack Road, officials said.

The lane closure is needed to perform emergency repairs to the overpass bridge, which was recently struck by a truck, officials said.

Drivers will experience delays on Crooked Hill Road, especially during the morning and evening rush hours, and are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone. For up-to-date traffic and travel information, call 511 or visit 511NY.org.
