All four Rocky Point schools were evacuated and searched by police Monday after a bomb threat was "phoned into the district," school officials said.

"All students and staff exited the buildings using the fire drill protocol, and were allowed to re-enter as clearance was provided by the police," Rocky Point Superintendent Carla D'Ambrosio said in a statement.

D'Ambrosio did not say how long students were evacuated.

"The safety of our students and staff is our first priority, and we thank them for their patience, cooperation, and understanding," D'Ambrosio said. "The district will not tolerate these types of prank calls, and will vigorously pursue prosecution of those responsible to the fullest extent of the law."
