Medford man dies after William Floyd Parkway crash
A Medford man died Sunday after his car veered off the William Floyd Parkway and hit several trees.
Suffolk Police said Ronald Hunte, 60, of Wilson Avenue, was driving his 2003 Buick Rendezvous north on the parkway at about 11 a.m., when the car left the roadway and struck trees off the right shoulder of the road.
Hunte was taken to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives are investigating the single-vehicle crash, and impounded the Buick for a safety check.
The crash shut down the William Floyd Parkway between Whiskey Road and Route 25A for several hours Sunday afternoon as authorities investigated, but the road has since reopened.
