A Shirley man was killed in a two-car crash on Islip Avenue near West Willow Street in Brentwood on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a man Tuesday night in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said.

Ronald Viscusi, 63, was driving a 2001 Lincoln southbound on Islip Avenue near West Willow Street when his car struck the rear of a 2001 Honda, driven by Emperatriz Ortiz, 26.

Ortiz was backing out of a driveway on Islip Avenue at about 8:30 p.m. when Viscusi's car hit her vehicle and then crashed into a tree, police said in a news release.

Viscusi, of Shirley, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ortiz, of Amityville, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was treated and released.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
