A weight loss supplement sold by a Long Island company is being recalled, the Food and Drug Administration said Friday.
Thirty-capsule bottles of Solo Slim and Solo Slim Extra Strength weight loss supplements with expiration dates including and before August 2013 are being recalled because the capsules contain an undeclared drug ingredient. The bottles are sold by EZVille Ltd. of Ronkonkoma.
The FDA has advised that the ingredient, Sibutramine, substantially increases blood pressure in some people and may present a significant risk for individuals with a history of coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, arrhythmia or stroke.
The product was distributed nationwide to retailers and sold online. Those with questions can call 866-673-8483, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
