Ronkonkoma crash leaves at least 1 seriously hurt, cops say

Suffolk police said they closed a portion of Lakeland Avenue in Ronkonkoma Sunday night while they investigated a crash that seriously injured at least one person.

A police spokeswoman said Lakeland Avenue was closed in both directions at Ocean Avenue as of about 9 p.m., after the department received several calls reporting a vehicle crash.

The spokeswoman said there is at least one serious injury involved, but did not immediately have details about how many vehicles were involved, or whether there were others injured.
