Service on the Ronkonkoma branch of the Long Island Rail Road has been restored after a train struck and killed a 50-year-old woman east of the Wyandanch station early Tuesday, a railroad spokesman said.

The woman's identity has not been released.

Railroad spokesman Aaron Donovan said the death is being investigated by MTA police as a potential suicide.

Donovan said the 11:14 p.m. train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma struck the woman near the Carlls Straight Path crossing at 12:23 a.m. That train was delayed about two hours for the investigation, Donovan said. He said four other trains also were affected.

Witnesses said the death appeared intentional, Donovan said. The investigation is continuing Tuesday, he said.
