A 71-year-old Ronkonkoma woman was seriously injured when a landscaping truck backed into her in front of her home.

Jorge Chinchilla was driving the truck — which had an attached trailer — when he struck Rose Dalli, who was standing in the narrow roadway at 10:55 a.m., police said.

Dalli was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening but serious injuries.

A police spokesman said one of her legs was crushed and that she also suffered internal injuries though she was conscious and talking at the scene.

The spokesman said witnesses said Dalli had her back turned to the truck when she was hit.

Chinchilla, 43, of Freeport, stayed at the accident site until police arrived and was not injured.

No charges are expected to be filed.
