A man was hit and killed by a car while crossing Route 110 in East Farmingdale early Saturday morning, the Suffolk County Police Department said in a news release.

Police said the man was crossing the road's southbound lanes shortly after 5 a.m. south of Price Parkway when he was struck by a 2015 Acura.

The man, who was not publicly identified as of early Saturday afternoon, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage. There is no crosswalk where he was struck, a police spokeswoman said. 

The other driver was not injured, and a police spokeswoman confirmed he was not arrested or charged. The Acura has been impounded, police said.

The Suffolk Police Department’s First Squad Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives at 631-854-8152.
