The southbound lane of NY Route 110 between Creek Road and Prime Avenue in Halesite will be closed through early Wednesday as part of an ongoing $18 million safety improvement project, the state Department of Transportation said.

The closure will start at 10 p.m. Tuesday and end at 6 a.m. Wednesday, officials said.

Traffic will be diverted to local roads, but a single northbound lane will remain open. No commercial traffic will be permitted.

Motorists, businesses and residents are being warned of the closings via electronic road signs and informational fliers, but should plan to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

The lane closures are part of an $18 million state DOT project that includes paving, drainage and safety improvement.

For real-time travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit 511NY.org.
