Saquan Johnson, 24, of Bay Shore was charged with leaving the scene of an incident that involved a fatality on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, police said. Credit: SCPD

Suffolk police arrested a Bay Shore man Tuesday night and charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run Saturday.

Saquan Johnson, 24, of Union Boulevard was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving a fatality and was being held overnight at the Fourth Precinct. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.

The 3:10 a.m. accident occurred when Elvin Ponce, 30, was hit by a car heading east on Redington Street, east of Brook Avenue, in Bay Shore. He was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, where he was pronounced dead.

Johnson was located Tuesday night by police in Uniondale.
