No children were on board a mini-school bus that overturned Thursday morning after being hit by a car in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County police said.
The bus was hit at about 11:48 a.m. by a 1996 Toyota sedan, which skidded on wet pavement as the driver tried to stop at a red light at Rosevale Avenue and Richmond Boulevard, police said.
The bus, owned by Suffolk County Transit, was turning left onto Rosevale from Richmond. The bus driver was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, complaining of neck and back pain, police said.
The car's driver had been taking his pregnant wife to the hospital, and she, too, was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center after the accident, police said.
