School bus collides with vehicle in Ronkonkoma

A Hauppauge man was killed in Ronkonkoma Wednesday afternoon after his car collided with a school bus, police said.

Police said the 55-year-old man had been driving a 2005 Toyota north on Ocean Avenue when his vehicle crossed over into the southbound lanes and struck a bus just before 4 p.m., near Peconic Avenue.

The driver was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead.

No children were on the bus and the bus driver was not injured.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check.
