A school bus carrying one student was hit Wednesday in North Lindenhurst by a sedan that then started burning, Suffolk police said.

The bus, with a 16 year-old, was going south on Jackson Avenue when a sedan on 46th Street crashed into it while turning right to go onto northbound Jackson, police said.

The sedan's engine caught on fire but the flames were quickly put out, police said.

No one was injured in the crash, which occurred about 4:35 p.m., police said, but the student was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip as a precaution.

No arrests were made or tickets issued, police said.
