Ward Melville High School was evacuated for about an hour Wednesday morning as Suffolk County police investigated a bomb threat, a police spokeswoman said.

Police responded to the East Setauket school at 380 Old Town Rd. after receiving a 911 call at 10:03 a.m., the spokeswoman said.

Nothing suspicious was found when police searched the building, she said.

Neil Lederer, interim superintendent of the Three Village Central School District, said students, teachers and employees at the school were put on buses to keep warm during the police search.

The school was evacuated at about 10:40 a.m. and students started returning to the building about 11:30 a.m., Lederer said.

Parents were alerted through the district's phone-messaging system, he said.
