Scott Russell, Southold town supervisor, hurt after SUV rollover in Cutchogue, cops say

Town of Southold Supervisor Scott Russell escaped serious injury on Monday night after police said his sport utility vehicle skidded on wet leaves in Cutchogue, striking shrubs and rolling over.
Russell, 50, of Cutchogue, sustained minor injuries and police said he was treated at the scene by emergency responders from the Cutchogue Fire Department.
Southold Town police said the single-vehicle crash occurred on Skunk Lane at about 9:35 p.m.
Calls to Town Hall seeking comment from Russell were not returned.
Police said Russell was driving a 2014 Ford Escape south on Skunk Lane when his vehicle skidded on wet leaves near Haywaters Drive.
It was not clear whether the Ford is a town-owned vehicle.
After sliding off the roadway, the SUV came to rest on its side, the driver's side on the ground, police said.
Police said Russell got out of the vehicle before emergency responders reached the scene.
