Two cars collided head on in Farmingville late Wednesday evening, in the same area where a toddler was killed in a car accident, Suffolk police said.
The second accident happened about 5:50 p.m. at the intersection of North Ocean Avenue and Granny Road, police said. There were no life-threatening injuries, police said.
Other details were not immediately available.
That stretch of road, where North Ocean Avenue has three lanes going south and three going north, has been the backdrop of many car accidents, usually during heavy rains, said Al Licata, second assistant chief of the Farmingville Fire Department. The bad drainage causes vehicles to hydroplane and drivers losing control, he said.
About five hours before the head-on crash, a 15-month-old girl from Mastic died after her grandmother lost control of the car and it flipped several times, police said. The toddler was not properly restrained in her car seat, police said. Police are investigating the cause of the fatal accident.
