A two-vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon that included an overturned car closed traffic for nearly an hour on the eastbound Long Island Expressway in Lake Ronkonkoma, a spokeswoman for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident happened about 3:15 p.m. and initally closed the right and center lanes near Exit 60, the spokeswoman said.

For more than a half-hour, all lanes of the expressway were closed, stalling traffic between Exits 57 and 60, as emergency crews worked to remove the damaged vehicles, according to the New York State Department of Transportation website, informny.com.

The road was reopened to traffic at about 4:20 p.m., the website said.

One of the vehicles was overturned and there were three minor injuries, said the spokeswoman, who had no further information.
